Main Street Awards Banquet

On Tuesday May 6th, at the Main Street Awards Banquet, Wilburton Main Street won in the Premier Special Under 1,000 Attendees Event with the Relics and Rods Car Show, Swap Meet, Cruise Night and Fireworks.

Relics and Rods Car Show, Swap Meet, Cruise Night and Fireworks was held on June 30, 2018.  The car show featured classic cars, rat rods, cars still I process of being rebuilt, motorcycles and 4X4 vehicle.  The car show also featured a 50-50 raffle, three custom made barrels to be raffled, door prizes donated by local merchants, a new “Pin-Up” contest sponsored by Pink Wolf Photography, and new car smashing activity.  Special awards were given in carious categories, including What Were You Thinking?, Best Interior, Most Original; Furthest Distance, Kid’s Choice, and more.  The youth advisory board of the Choctaw Nation hosted activities for children including by sponsoring a scavenger hunt. A coloring contest and games were also offered.  Live music filled the air during the entire event. There were also craft and food vendors for the visitors to enjoy.  The event drew a steady crowd all day, culminating with a firework display downtown.

Farmers Market Opens Friday May, 3rd!

Opening Day for Wilburton’s Farmers Market will be May 3rd.  It will open at 9:00 AM and close at 1:00 PM.  The Market will be open on Fridays ONLY until after Memorial Day.  Starting May 31st, the Market will return to its original hours of operation, which are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 AM -1:00 PM.

Soon, Main Street’s Farmers Market will overflow with colorful peppers and squash, piles of cucumbers and tomatoes, crafts, and much more.  Our market always has a variety of things to offer. Please do not forget to stop in and support our local Farmers Market.

The Collums Commercial Rentals owned and operated by John and Sunny Collums began when they purchased ProAm Welding Supply at 132 West Main, and later opened Mr. Catfish at Lutie Hill.  The Collums have purchased, and sold nine buildings on Main Street.  Some of the buildings have had roofs replaced, and/or new floors, a lot of paint, and reconfiguration of walls, as well as awnings.  Nine commercial buildings have also been built on Lutie Hill.  The last endeavor has been one of the oldest buildings in town located on Blair.  It should be ready by summer.  Many are anxiously waiting to view this gem that is a major historical building in our community.

Wilburton Main Street Farmers Market will be hosting a Farmers Market meeting Tuesday, April 9, at 6:00 p.m. at the Wilburton Main Street/Wilburton Chamber of Commerce Office, at 301 W Main Street.  The meeting is to discuss the rules, hours of operation and to choose a new manager for the market.
